This wonderful antique sterling silver brooch is fashioned as a striking horseshoe with tons of fabulous detailing. The 'nail' motifs stand proud and a realistic riding crop decorates the centre embellished in silver chain that drapes elegantly over the front.
Dating to around 1880 and steeped in Victorian symbolism, horseshoes were a widely popular jewellery motif bestowing good luck and protection, the brooch is a particularly good example of its type and lovely quality.
The brooch is in lovely antique condition with minimal wear and it has a sturdy pin fastener with a tubular hinge and c-clasp, please see the photos.
