What a double delight to find a beautiful antique sterling silver cuff bracelet not only by respected silversmith George Loveridge but with a full set of British hallmarks for 1881 including the reigning monarchs mark, in this case the desirable stamped profile of a youthful Queen Victoria.

Crafted on the oval the bracelet is impressively wide and engraved on the front with a very pretty rose, forget-me-not and nasturtium pattern with scrolling ferns. The back is polished silky smooth.

The bracelet has rolled edges to the top and bottom for added strength and durability. It has a hinge on one side and a sturdy hidden shovel clasp on the other. The clasp area on the inside is reinforced with decorative scalloped bands of silver, lovely attention to detail in parts of the bracelet not normally seen, the fine workmanship and super quality that you'd expect with this good maker.

In Victorian times these lovely feminine bracelets were often given as a romantic bridal gift, a fabulously decorative antique gem, a gorgeous piece and heirloom worthy!

MATERIALS: Sterling silver

MEASUREMENTS: The bracelet measures 5/8" wide (approx. 24mm) and has an outside circumference of 7" (approx. 18cm).

HALLMARKS: Stamped inside front, date letter gothic 'g' for 1881, anchor for Birmingham, lion passant for sterling silver and Victoria head punch, also 'G.L. & Co. for George Loveridge & Co. Also stamped inside the back with Victoria's head and the date letter.

WEIGHT: 27.2 grams

DATE: 1881, Victorian

CONDITION: In excellent antique condition with expected signs of wear and age, slight surface scratches and a few tiny dents but no real flaws. The hinge is nice and solid and the clasp is in perfect working order fastening securely with a satisfying snap. It should be noted that dark areas on the bracelet are caused by shadows due to lighting and microscopic scratches not normally seen are visible in the photos because we use a close up macro camera lens.
