This exquisite vintage 1960s gold locket is superb quality as you would expect from the respected goldsmith Andreas Daub who established his company in 1872 in Germany.

This is a fairly large locket and it is rolled gold (gold filled) which is a mechanically bonded or heat fused overlay of solid gold onto a base metal, often silver. It is much thicker than modern electroplating and looks, feels and wears just like solid gold. With just a modicum of care rolled gold jewellery can withstand decades of wear and use.

Edwardian revival, the locket is a beautiful Art Nouveau quatrefoil shape and it is engraved back and front in a lovely shiny fern pattern against a textured matte background. It is in remarkably pristine condition showing no signs of wear or use.

The locket has a hinge at the bottom and opens from the top. It opens to reveal two stations for photographs with the original picture rings and hard plastic covers present. The picture rings flip out effortlessly with the tip of your fingernail and they 'click' seamlessly back into position, German engineering and design at its very best and a breeze to inset your photos!

An absolutely gorgeous 60 year old locket in an unusual shape, desirable and super quality, Andreas Daub rolled gold jewellery has withstood the test of time and is highly collectible today!

The locket can be purchased with or without the new gold vermeil (gold plated sterling silver) 18" (45cm) belcher chain. Our chains are made in Italy, fully hallmarked and excellent quality. With it's elegant round links the belcher or rolo chain remains one of the most enduring antique style chains available, perfect for wear with our antique lockets.
