A fabulous and rather unique 9ct gold English mourning pendant fob and attached Albert clip memorializing the 1865 death of Sir John Guise, the 3rd Baronet of Elmore Court.

In a pocket watch case design the pendant has a glass locket compartment in the front that would have originally held a photo or hair of the deceased.

The back of the pendant is solid 9ct gold and decorated in guilloche engraving with a central cartouche engraved with the words "Sir J.W. Guise, Bar't Died April 11th 1865" and the initials "GCB".

The inside is readily accessible with a hinged back that opens like a door and it is engraved in the same words on the underside of the 'door'. The pendant is framed in a beautiful floral carved gold gilt (sterling silver with a gold overlay) frame with a large decorative suspension loop at the top.

A solid 9ct gold 'Albert' dog clip that swivels adorns the top to attach it to a pocket watch chain.

A gorgeous antique pendant fob, unique and absolutely steeped in aristocratic British history. wonderfully versatile it is perfect for wear as a locket pendant, plenty of room inside for keepsakes and the large sized clip means it will attach to a wide variety of necklaces!

An interesting side note: the engraved initials "GCB" signifies the reigning monarch Queen Victoria knighted Sir John bestowing the title "Knight of the Grand Cross, Order of the Bath" on him. An ancient order of chivalry, he was indeed a brave man who gained the rank of General in the British army and served his country fighting in the Napoleonic wars 1808-1814. He was the 3rd Baronet of Elmore Court, in Gloucestershire, England.
