A fabulous 1930s golfer fob pendant by Northern Goldsmiths, a jewellers known for producing luxury pieces.

Rendered in solid 9ct gold and sterling silver the pendant features a pillowed shield shaped panel on the front depicting a hand painted enamel figure of a golfer resplendent in his plus fours. The front is hallmarked 9ct so this is a solid sheet of gold sandwiched on the front (not simply gold plated) and the back is sterling silver bearing historic Chester assay marks.

The fob is super quality and heavy gauge, Chester assay office closed in 1962 so Chester hallmarks are particularly desirable today and carry a premium. It has a wide bore heavy duty silver bale and a two tone rose and yellow gold front so can be worn on a variety of necklace chains, lovely condition too with the beautiful enamelling still nice and bright with no chipping.

The back is engraved "J. Wood 1936" so we can safely assume this was presented as an award for a particularly good game of golf! As well as an impressive adornment for any pocket watch chain, this fob makes for a fashionable necklace pendant in an iconic and sporty Art Deco design!
