Circa 1840, this superb quality Victorian 9ct gold and enamel mourning locket pendant is just beautiful and full of tender sentiment.
Elegantly proportioned the pendant is crafted out of warm old 9ct rosy gold in a floral embossed design with a central glass fronted locket compartment on the front containing a hair weave. A black calligraphy "In Memory Of" inscription frames the hair along with a poignant bee motif that symbolises the soul leaving a body.
The back of the pendant is decorated in a pretty guilloche engraved pattern with a blank cartouche in the centre so you could choose to have it engraved for a personal touch.

CONDITION: in excellent antique condition, the black enamel is in beautiful condition with minimal signs of loss. The hair is still tightly braided behind the thick glass that is free of damage. There are a few tiny pinpoint dings on the back of the pendant
