Fabulous Victorian sterling silver guard chain featuring double curb (wheat chain) links and a swivel Albert clip. Add a statement pendant or not, it has interest whether worn long, doubled or tripled.
During the Georgian and Victorian eras these versatile chains were one of several jewels worn at the same time and were used to attach, and keep close at hand, all manner of things.
Circa 1890 the chain measures 60" long with a width of 3.22mm and a weight of 32 grams. It is in excellent antique condition. As seen in the photos there are a couple of areas of link loss which tends to happen with wheat chains of this age. Cosmetically this is not noticeable and doesn't affect wear or integrity, it is still a very strong and sturdy chain and is priced accordingly.
The Albert clip is in excellent working order and swivels which is handy for turning pendants/pocket watches around without taking the chain off. The clip is hallmarked '925' and the chain tests as 925 sterling silver throughout. Please note the pocket watch is for display only and not included in the purchase.
