Circa 1830 an exquisite all original Georgian, early Victorian 18ct yellow gold amethyst and pearl lariat necklace. This long pendant necklace features a 41" box link hand-made gold chain that is attached to the pendant with 2 tiny jump rings. The chain is continuous (it has no clasp) and simply slips over the head, it can be worn long or doubled if desired.
The beautiful teardrop shaped pendant features a pear cut amethyst in a superb shade of violet. The gemstone is mounted into a domed setting that has a port hole in the back to allow light to flood through. The amethyst is set into a bezel with fine milgrain beads decorating the top and then framed by a halo of creamy ivory pearls in pinched collet settings.
A stunning antique lariat necklace steeped in sentiment, the amethyst stands for devotion and pearls purity. No doubt once worn with the high waisted silk gowns of Regency era she is a testament to Georgian craftsmanship and enduring beauty.

CONDITION: in very good antique condition showing just light surface wear and minor signs of age as you might expect. The amethyst has natural feathery inclusions on the inside. The pearls are blemish free and secure in their settings. The gold chain is free flowing with no kinks, there are tiny spots of gold solder joining the links together, this is a hand-made chain and not mass produced.
