This wonderful antique Saint Esprit brooch is a beautiful piece of Victorian jewellery steeped in spirituality and tender meaning. Handcrafted in sterling silver and carpeted in seed pearls with a tiny real ruby it is beautifully modelled as a crescent moon with a dove symbolising the holy ghost and a shamrock representing the trinity. Crescent moon jewellery was immensely popular in the Victorian era and typically gifted as a sign of deep emotion and enduring love.
The brooch measures 1-3/4"/4cm across and is stamped 'SILVER'. It has a strong curved pin back on the reverse which will fasten securely to heavy fabrics and close weaves, although it's a little top heavy to wear on knitted garments
