A unusual and very attractive sterling silver and enamel First World War British sweetheart brooch bearing good clear hallmarks for Birmingham 1914. A quality piece the brooch features a beautifully detailed Royal Garter (belt) with a Union Jack flag pegged into the open centre. Steeped in patriotism and symbolism this lovely little brooch remains in beautiful antique condition with minimal surface wear, the colours still vibrant and no loss of enamel.
A charming and scarce piece of antique sweetheart jewellery, good for the ladies or the gents and very collectable. Sweetheart brooches were given as mementos or tokens of affection particularly during war time.
