This true antique sterling silver articulated pendant fob is a superb example of its type. Finely hand-crafted in the Victorian period it is beautifully modelled with incredible detailing and 2 red Ruby gemstone eyes that sparkle and shine.
The fish is a large size and constructed in 10 concentric segments so it wiggles and shimmies with the slightest movement. Super quality, the fish is hallmarked on the tail and it has a generously sized heavy duty silver ring at the top to attach it to your favorite necklace chain or perhaps show it off dangling from an elegant antique pocket watch chain.
This style of articulated fish were popular in Chinese and Japanese jewellery, which was a major point of inspiration for the Victorian Aesthetic movement during the 1870's and 1880's. Even so this flexible fellow has his origins firmly in Europe and was likely made in France.
