Oozing Victorian sentiment and character this antique wide chunky belt & buckle bangle is solidly crafted in sterling silver and fully hallmarked for the year 1882.
Crafted on the oval this is a quality piece decorated on the front in a bold highly detailed and dimensional belt and buckle motif accented in silver beads. It has rolled edges to the top and bottom for comfort and strength. It is hinged on one side and has a hidden shovel clasp on the other with a push button to open it.
The charming buckle motif is a recurring theme in Victorian jewelry and was thought to render safety, security and protection. The symbolism makes this a meaningful token of affection, a wonderful antique jewel!
MATERIALS: Sterling silver
MEASUREMENTS: 1-1/8" (2.8cm) wide, inside circumference 6-3/4" (17cm) worn close fitting it is probably better suited to a slimmer wrist. Internal measurements are 1-3/4" (4.4cm) front to back and 2-1/4" (5.8cm) side to side
HALLMARKS: stamped inside front 'lion passant' for sterling, 'anchor' for Birmingham, date letter gothic 'h' for 1882, and makers mark 'J.Bros.' Stamped on the back 'lion passant' and letter 'h'
WEIGHT: heavy at 37.2 grams

CONDITION: In very good antique condition with signs of surface wear and minor tiny dents as you might expect in a bangle this old. The hinge is nice and solid with the bangle fastening tightly and securely. Please disregard any strange dark areas, the silver is high polished and very reflective.
