A beautiful pair of antique Whitby Jet and sterling silver Victorian earrings. Whitby Jet is a fossilized mineral gemstone millions of years old that is only found in and around Whitby, a seaside hamlet in England.
Torpedo style the earrings feature long elegant drops of facet cut jet suspended in decorative silver bell caps with granulation detail. The tops are finished in a classic shepherd hook with a bead detail.
The earrings are lightweight and weigh 3.1 grams in total. They measure 2" (5cm) tall from top to bottom, the drops are 1-1/2" (4cm) and are in excellent antique condition with minimal signs of wear and no damage to the jet.
These earrings are a real statement of Victorian elegance and femininity. They swing and catch the light with the slightest movement and are extremely comfortable to wear. A gorgeous addition to any antique jewellery collection you will wear them forever.
