A striking antique Victorian pendant showcasing a massive Scottish banded carnelian gemstone!
Crafted in sterling silver the pendant features a beautiful embossed ribbon and bow setting with a D-shaped hanging loop at the top. The unique specimen sized oval cabochon of glowing translucent carnelian is dramatically banded with intricate lines in a myriad of colours. Carnelian is a form of Scottish chalcedony (agate) treasured for this vibrant red/orange translucent colouring.
The huge Scottish pendant currently suspends from a vintage high quality sterling silver fancy link snake chain but you could pair this piece with any chain to suit your mood. An impressive and eye-catching addition to any antique jewellery collection!

DATE: Victorian, circa 1880
WEIGHT: 37.3 grams total
CONDITION: in very good condition, the silver setting shows surface wear and tooling marks on the reverse which, you might expect in an antique hand made piece. The agate is free of chips and cracks.
