A delightful Queen Victoria sterling silver coin brooch that would have been worn to commemorate the old Queen's diamond jubilee in 1897. A fairly scarce piece because we believe the 1887 silver shilling might be uncirculated, it is free of any wear and tear that you might expect in a used coin.
The silver coin, known to collectors as a 'Jubilee Head' resides in a fully detachable sterling silver "cart wheel" brooch mount hallmarked for 1897 so the coin would have been 10 years old when it was placed in there, another clue that this was a treasured silver shilling brought out for a very special occassion!
A charming piece of antique British patriotic jewellery celebrating Queen Victoria's 50 years on the throne, these sweet sentimental jewels are becoming harder to find! Bring out the Anglophile in you, the perfect silver accessory for the lapel and good for the gents or the ladies!
