This beautiful elegantly proportioned Victorian Albert watch chain is stamped throughout the links with the British lion passant for sterling - extensive hallmarking is a sign of a quality in an antique chain. It also has matching 1891 dated hallmarks on the clip and T-bar that tells us it's an all original piece.
Crafted in solid sterling silver it is a "single Albert" so it has no drop or fob and is worn to one side of the waistcoat. The curb links are graduated and it terminates in a dog-clip at one end and a T-bar at the other. You could wear this chain as originally intended, attached to a pocket watch, or wrap it round your wrist twice to wear as a bracelet. It will comfortably fit up to a 7" wrist when worn as a bracelet.
The chain weighs in at 40 grams and is in excellent condition with minor surface wear, the dog-clip which is fixed (not a swivel) is in perfect working order and closes securely.

MEASUREMENTS: 14-1/4" (36.5cm) end to end. Chain graduates from 9.2mm wide in the centre to 5.5mm at the ends. Dog-clip 22x9mm, T-bar 1-1/2" (4cm) long
HALLMARKS: stamped 'lion passant' for sterling throughout the links, dog-clip stamped 'lion passant', date letter 'r' for 1891 and makers mark 'H.A & S' for Henry Allday & Son. T-bar stamped 'lion passant' date letter 'r' and makers mark 'H.A & S'. Henry Allday & Son were chain makers that were located in Birmingham's historic jewellery quarter.
