A fine quality and beautifully detailed Victorian silver sword brooch with a glowing purple amethyst nestling in the basket hilt handle and slices of carnelian and bloodstone set along the blade. The colours and texture of the Scottish stones evoke the wild and craggy landscape of the Highlands perfectly and are a lovely contrast to the silver setting with its intricate feathered engraving.

This is a small brooch and perfectly formed, one of our photos shows the remarkable range of sizes and designs that these distinctive brooches came in (this one is the smallest one shown). A very sweet piece of antique Scottish pebble jewellery, a lovely silver accent accessory good for the gents or the ladies. Decorate a jacket or coat lapel or wear it on a tie!

The sword brooch was very fashionable in the 1870's at the height of the "Scottish Pebble" craze that occurred after Queen Victoria purchased Balmoral Castle in Scotland. She set a fashion trend for Scottish jewellery which became highly collectable and it still remains that way today!
