A very pretty antique Georgian forget-me-not ring with a secret glass locket compartment in the back containing a little hair weave. Possibly worn as a memorial to the dearly departed but just as likely to be a love token containing a beloved's hair.
Dating to the early 1800's this dainty flower ring is rendered in 18ct yellow gold with a rococo style setting. A halo of natural turquoise gemstones form the flower petals with an old point cut diamond nestling in a gold star setting the centre. The flower head is flanked by 3 turquoise stones at each side forming leaf motifs and a round glass compartment containing dark brown hair hides in the under gallery.
A simple gold band completes this beautiful feminine ring that would have perfectly suited the fashionable lightweight floral silk gowns of the romantic Regency era. A fabulous rare find and only becoming rarer as these sentimental Georgian rings are becoming more and more scarce.
MATERIALS: 15-18ct gold, acid tested
GEMSTONES: Presidium tested, mine cut diamond, 12 natural turquoise roughly 3mm diameter
RING SIZE: UK K-1/2, US 5-1/2
MEASUREMENTS: face, 16mm across (gemstone spread), 7.5mm wide at the front, band 2.1mm
WEIGHT: 2.3 grams
HALLMARKS: None, as is typical for the era
DATE: circa 1810, Georgian/Regency
CONDITION: in excellent condition with no noted flaws, a little light wear as expected but for an antique ring of this age it looks to be in pretty remarkable shape, please see photos
