A varied and interesting selection of incredible antique glass Venetian beads make up this one of a kind flapper style lavalier pendant necklace.
The opaque beads are all hand made and each one is unique and distinctive. Often referred to as African trade beads because they were imported into Africa in the 18th and 19th century and traded for gold and other commodities.
The extra large rectangle mosaic glass beads are known as Millefiori beads, there is also an interesting mix of other unusual antique glass beads like the wheel shaped and striped square beads which have a stone like appearance. The rest of the necklace is composed of small glass beads which look to have considerable age to them too.
The necklace is artisan made and extremely striking. It is well thought out in a great colour combination with bright yellows, pastel greens, lemon, grey and black. It is strung on strong clear necklace cord so there should be no problem with breakage especially since this is a heavy necklace weighing 100 grams.
This is an over the head necklace measuring 16" (41cm) down each side with the pendant drop adding another 2" to the length. It is double stranded with a triple strand part way down one side which looks like a deliberate part of the design rather than anything missing.
Condition is very very good with expected surface wear and signs of antique age, please see photos.
