This antique Art Deco 9ct gold synthetic Alexandrite solitaire ring is absolutely gorgeous displaying a beautiful colour change depending on the light source. Vibrant purple in the sunshine with flashes of violet, pink, red and blue it morphs into a dreamy lilac colour in incandescent light.
The 5 carat oval cut gemstone is mounted in four claws above a very pretty basket setting with heart shaped scrolls. Slender nipped shoulders that lead to an elegant V-shaped band complete this beautiful piece.
This ring is in very good condition although the tip of one of the tiny scrolls is missing. This is not particularly noticeable when worn and doesn't affect the integrity of the ring. The scrolls are decorative, not functional, so the gemstone is still held securely in the 4 claw setting. There is a miniscule facet edge chip to the Alexandrite which can be felt rather that seen.
The synthetic Alexandrite has been tested and verified using a Presidium Gem Tester. Synthetic gemstones are real gemstones with exactly the same properties and qualities as their natural earth-mined sisters, the only difference is that they have grown in a laboratory instead of forming naturally in the ground. One of best qualities a synthetic gemstone possesses is that it is completely guilt-free!
