Exquisite antique 9ct gold carved shell cameo brooch. This is a large size brooch measuring approximately 2-1/2" long. The carving shows a skilful hand depicting the beautiful Greek goddess of the flowers, Flora.
The brooch mount picks up the neoclassical style and complements the cameo wonderfully. Circa 1900, late Victorian to Edwardian era it weighs a solid 6.5 grams and is hallmarked "9CT" twice on the back.
It is in superb condition, with no wear or damage to the cameo. There is a heavy gauge pin back that fastens securely.
Comes with the antique wooden retailers box as shown from "B. Barnett, 61 Carr Lane, Hull" The box has a fitted slot for the brooch and is in aged condition on the outside with the leather worn from the top but the inside is good with the hinge complete and the push button closure snapping firmly shut.
