Iconic Art Deco geometric styling graces this original 1920s jazz baby era gem, what a beauty!
This true period ring has a solid 9ct gold band and shoulders with the beautiful antique paste sapphire & diamond stones set in sterling silver. This is an antique gemstone setting technique that was used before the widespread use of white gold, it prevented an undesirable yellow cast from the gold reflecting on the clear stones.
The centre "sapphire" is rectangular shaped and it is bordered by a halo of round "diamonds" Beautiful silver milligrain edgework frames the paste stones that remain securely set, a testament to the stone setters skill and quality of these old rings. Elegant knife edge shoulders in 9ct gold lead to a full gold band, she provides fabulous finger coverage and with her gorgeous flat profile she just screams Art Deco!
This ring remains in good antique condition with no wearing thin of the gold band. The sapphire paste stone does have some surface wear (please see photos) and there is a little darkening behind the diamond pastes but nothing untoward and we have taken condition into account when pricing. A beautiful 1920's paste ring that deserves to be treasured again, the signs of loving wear add to her antique charm, a real collectors piece!
