A wonderful Chinese carved jade squirrel pendant necklace dating to around 1920, the Art Deco period. The squirrel is a fairly large size and beautifully modelled depicting him busily eating a nut. The jade is a glossy medium apple green with white and dark mottling. The pendant is topped in a stirrup style sterling silver bale that swivels and it suspends from a sterling silver fine curb chain that has plenty of age to it too.
Squirrel are auspicious in Chinese culture, believed to be a positive omen they are thought to bestow a blessing of good luck, wealth and many children!
