A beautiful heavy duty antique sterling silver Albert watch chain with a decorative fob hallmarked in 1904. This fabulous chunky chain has thick solid silver curb links that are stamped throughout in the British lion passant for sterling.
Measuring 17" (43cm) between the clip and T-bar it has a long drape length when worn as a watch chain and it is a great length to wear as a unique necklace.
The silver fob is a large size, one side has a pillowed shield shaped cartouche framed in scrolling ribbons and the original owners monogram ornately engraved. The other side is just as decorative, shield shaped again with lots of intricate chasing and engraving.

HALLMARKS: stamped 'lion passant' throughout the links. Dog-clip stamped 'lion passant' and worn date letter. Fob stamped 'lion passant', 'anchor' for Birmingham, date letter 'e' for 1904 and makers mark 'JWT' for James Walter Tiptaft. No markings on the T-bar. All components have been acid tested and confirmed sterling
MEASUREMENTS: 21" (53cm) from the end of the fob to the end of the clip. Drop length 5" (12.5cm). The links are 2.1mm thick and 10x8mm. T-bar 1-1/2" (4cm) long. Dog-clip 25x7.75mm. Fob 1-1/2" (4cm) tall
DATE: Victorian circa 1900
CONDITION: in excellent overall condition with surface wear and signs of use as expected in an antique watch chain. The fob outline is asymmetrical which looks like a quirky manufacturing flaw rather than damage. This chain has been professionally cleaned and polished and is ready to wear or give as a gift.
