Circa 1815 this beautiful Georgian mourning ring is superbly crafted in luxurious 18ct yellow gold and just brimming over in very pretty feminine detailing.
An unusual ring constructed in a very delicate openwork design, it features a halo of rose cut black paste gemstones mounted in pinched collet settings which are typical of the period. The rare pastes are arranged in a flower motif framing a thick glass locket compartment containing a lock of human hair. Gold scrollwork split shoulders lead to a reeded and stepped band adding to the exceptionally intricate detailing.
This delicate and dainty memorial ring is a fabulous and rare find especially in such well-preserved condition. In common with the majority of Georgian rings - which are over 200 years old - she will not take kindly to heavy wear so please wear her with the love and consideration due to an old lady.

GEMSTONES: 8 rose cut black paste (glass) stones, approx. 4mm diameter
RING SIZE: UK K, US 5-1/2. We do not recommend sizing unless you do not mind the interruption of the design
MEASUREMENTS: Face measures 15x14mm, locket compartment 7x6mm, shoulders 10mm stepped to a 2.5mm band at the back

CONDITION: In very, very good antique condition with just light surface wear to the glass panel and paste stones as expected in an antique morning ring of this age. It is a delicate openwork ring with a thin gauge gold band so should be worn occasionally and carefully.
