This beautiful 9ct gold antique cameo necklace pendant depicts Jesus and hails from the Georgian era.
Carved out of pastel pink shell as pale as alabaster the image is well defined and beautiful in its simplicity. It is mounted in an unobtrusive and elegant warm rosy 9ct gold setting held in place with decorative "bird feet" claws. Male cameo subjects are much less commonplace than females and biblical characters are scarcer still, he is left facing too so a desirable and fairly rare piece.
The shell does have an extremely fine hairline crack at the top right side, please see the photos. The image carving is unaffected and the shell is still stable, it doesn't move in the setting. The fine crack has been stabilised in the reverse with jewellers epoxy.
We have taken this small flaw into account when pricing. It still remains a beautiful and rare 200 year old cameo that is steeped in Christian spirituality,
