Incredible hand wrought workmanship is showcased in these exceptional antique woven seed pearl Victorian earrings with 9ct gold hooks.
These dainty earrings are fashioned in an intricate fleur de lis floral design and carpeted in countless graduated seed pearls that are woven together and sewn onto a mother of pearl frame with invisible thread. They benefit from sturdy gauge gold lever back hooks that have hinges and a little button that you simply flick backwards with your fingernail to open and they click closed for a safe and secure fit.
The hooks are inserted through the ear from the back and they fasten at the front. "Huggie" style they fit closely to the earlobe.
Charming and feminine these beautiful antique earrings are rare survivors. Jewellery decorated with seed pearls has long since been associated with innocence and the fleur-de-lys as a symbol of purity would have meant that these earrings would have made the perfect first official jewellery gift for a young girl or given to a bride to wear on her wedding day.

CONDITION: in very good antique condition with minor surface wear and light tarnish. The hooks latch firmly in place. There are a few pearls missing but we don't see any unravelling of the threads, please see the photos. These are delicate antique earrings with very fine construction and should be worn with care
