A lovely antique Victorian watch chain made from black braided silk ribbon and French Jet beads. The glass beads are very decorative alternating between round faceted beads and long square tube beads. There's one oval bead in the centre that's ebonized wood and the chain terminates at one end in a black enamelled dog-clip and a barley sugar twist t-bar at the other. A black silk tassel adds to the decorative appeal.
This unusual and feminine 'albertina' pocket watch chain isn't really suitable to wear as a bracelet. A rare survivor and an authentic way to connect yourself with Victorian fashion!
