Magnificent, this is the largest and heaviest antique Victorian Scottish sterling silver hardstone plaid brooch that we have ever come across!

Quite an early piece and beautifully made the brooch showcases a very large egg shaped brown and cream agate stone banded in dramatic wavy lines. It has a gently domed top with an elegant satin polished finish. The sterling silver frame features thick solid silver twisted wire embossed in a floral pattern . A decorative silver safety chain adds to the stately appeal.

A fine collector's piece. Scottish pebble jewellery grew in popularity in the mid-1800s fuelled by Queen Victoria's love for Scotland and the jewellery made there. Brooches were especially favoured as they were both beautiful and functional holding heavy capes, cloaks and shawls in place. If you're looking for a statement sized piece of impressive antique Scottish pebble jewellery then this may be the one for you.
