Very popular with Victorian ladies in Europe during the 19th century antique fine silver filigree jewellery is a relative rarity because not much of it survives in tact.
This large marquise shaped filigree ring is a wonderful example . It is composed of fine silver threads twisted together to form the framework and decorated with rosettes set with silver beads. The centre is set with a softly faceted paste (glass) sapphire framed in silver loops. Incredibly detailed the ring is further enhanced with applied silver lozenge shaped cutouts and the band is decorated in a rope trim.
MATERIALS: sterling silver, acid tested.
GEMSTONES: paste (glass) sapphire, approx. 11x7mm measured in the setting
RING SIZE: Size US 7/UK N.5/EU 54
MEASUREMENTS: The face of the ring measures 1-1/4" (3.3cm) tall 7/8" (2cm) wide, band 3.7mm
DATE: Victorian, circa 1890.
WEIGHT: 6.3 grams.
CONDITION: In very good antique condition with expected surface wear and signs of age but nothing untoward and no breaks in the filigree, please see photos
