A rather curious antique Victorian Scottish fob pendant boasting a real stag tooth! The tooth's root has a pegged in silver bale attached to a heavy duty silver jump ring that is stamped with a British lion passant for sterling silver.
Deers' teeth jewellery was a rather short lived Victorian fad fuelled by Queen Victoria's habit of wearing "Scotch" trophy jewellery made from the teeth of game that her husband Prince Albert had shot at Balmoral Castle, Scotland. Not as odd as it seems, the setting of trophy teeth into jewellery was a fashionable custom in the Prince's native Germany.
This rather unique Victorian novelty fob pendant will invite plenty of curiosity and comments!
