Circa 1870, a beautiful glossy Whitby jet mourning brooch in an elegant marquise shape featuring a saw tooth edge, beading and carved ferns against a bas relief background.
A wonderful and highly collectible example of antique genuine English jet jewelry and a testament to the skill of the Victorian jet carvers of Whitby. The brooch is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
It has an angled heavy duty pin back in perfect working order with a sturdy c-clasp so it can be worn on heavier fabrics. Measures 2 inches across and 1 inch high.
