An absolutely adorable antique Victorian carved Connemara Marble lucky pig charm/pendant on a gold filled/rolled gold dog-clip.
The Irish gemstone is a beautiful pea green with pale mint green feathering throughout and it's beautifully carved into this chubby little piggy who has 2 tiny seed pearls for eyes. He suspends from an antique rolled gold dog-clip that swivels so he is wonderfully versatile and can be clipped to a bracelet or worn on a wide variety of neck chains.
He is perfect for layering with your neck mess or wearing alone as a unique signature piece. The popularity of lucky Victorian pigs blossomed in the 1800s. As symbols of good luck and prosperity in a New Year, they were featured on cards, jewellery, ornaments and sweets!
MATERIALS: Connemara Marble, rolled gold
MEASUREMENTS: 1-1/2" tall including the clip, the pig is approx. 5/8" (1.8cm) by 1" (2.5cm)
DATE: circa, 1880
WEIGHT: 5.6 grams
CONDITION: in lovely antique condition but he is missing a back leg. It isn't particularly noticeable due to the busyness of the marble patterning and we do think this little flaw rather adds to his antique charm, remarkably he can stand upright on his 3 legs. The dog-clip is in perfect working order.
