A beautiful and romantic Victorian sterling silver sweetheart brooch. Often worn by brides, this is one of the prettiest examples we have seen in a long while, it is a fairly large size too with lots of presence, so bound to bring compliments.
Rendered in delicate embossed (stamped) silver with realistic detailing it features a very large swallow in flight against an oak leaf wreath background. Full of symbolism, to the Victorians the oak leaf represented strength, endurance, faith and virtue, the swallow, that mates for life, speaks of eternity, loyalty, fidelity and home and hearth. A lovely antique sentimental jewel that would make a wonderful and lasting gift.
