A beautiful 9ct rose gold and sterling silver thistle brooch bearing full Edinburgh hallmarks for 1960. Made by Ward Brothers the silver brooch is oval shaped and ornately engraved with a cut out centre accented in a thistle that has solid gold hallmarked leaves and an amethyst crystal accent stone. The brooch is finished in a sturdy pin back with a roll over safety clasp.
An unusual and very attractive example of a traditional Scottish dress brooch, you don't often see this type of brooch made in both gold and silver. Plenty of age to it, lovely to have the Scottish hallmarks and collectible too!
