Hailing from the 1950s these beautiful stud style earrings were originally screw-backs and have been converted into post-backs for pierced ears. Each earring is set with 2 creamy ivory 6mm cultured saltwater pearls that shimmer with a bright white iridescence. The pearls are mounted in an elegant 'S' shaped silver setting and accented by an engraved silver leaf motif.
We are confident these are authentic Mikimoto pearl earrings, the distinctive 'S' shaped fitting and bright cut engraved leaf design are characteristic of mid-century Mikimoto jewellery and the Akoya pearls are top quality.
Adapted for modern-day wear these gorgeous heirloom worthy earrings are timeless and classy, they are perfect for the wedding bride or those who simply appreciate the beauty of quality pearls. Mikimoto is one of the finest producers of Akoya pearls in the world. Their pearls are farmed at Ise Bay in Toba, Japan and are highly prized!

MARKS: earrings none (they would have been stamped with the Mikimoto logo on the original screw-backs), butterfly backs stamped '925'

CONDITION: in excellent vintage condition with the pearls securely set and no wear to the nacre. For reasons of hygiene we have added a new pair of sterling silver butterfly backs.
