A beautiful and classic vintage Scottish sterling silver traditional dress brooch featuring a large round cabochon of rare Iona Marble bordered by semi-circular shaped slices of dark green agate. Iona Marble (like agate) is a type of chalcedony quartz, a unique combination of serpentine and limestone which gives it its distinctive cloudy pale green appearance, it is only found on the Isle of Iona in Scotland
Circa 1950 and a quality piece it is stamped 'SILVER' on the back and is in excellent vintage condition showing just minor surface wear and light scratches in the silver as you might expect in a piece this age. There is no damage to the stones. The pin back has a roll over safety clasp that is in perfect working order.
Good for the ladies or the gents, a beautiful piece of traditional Scottish silver jewellery in a sought after local gemstone. Since antiquity Iona Marble has known locally as the "Lucky Green" so perhaps when you wear this brooch good fortune will follow!
