An exquisite pair of vintage sterling silver cannetille earrings. An incredible amount of work has gone into making these earrings and all by hand using jewellery making techniques that have been used for centuries.
Fashioned in a very long marquise shape they features rows upon rows of rosette flower motifs joined together in chainmaille style construction. Each flower is decorated with a little rosette in the centre and a row of silver beads dangle enticingly from the bottom. With every single link soldered closed these are high quality earrings, they have a fabulous sparkle and incredible movement when worn.
The earrings have post tops for pierced ears and for reasons of safety and hygiene we have added new sterling silver butterfly backs. They remain in excellent vintage condition and have been professionally cleaned and polished so they are ready to wear or give as a gift.
Although it is difficult to date or pin down the origin of traditional cannetille work like this that isn't factory mass produced we estimate these earrings date to the 1970s or earlier and that they might originate from India.
