Lots of age to this wonderful Jerusalem cross pendant necklace that is hand wrought in 950 silver so a higher purity of silver than sterling at 925.
The pendant is fairly heavy and substantial. It is constructed in tiers and decorated in elaborate cannetille wire work rosettes and granulated silver beading against a dark oxidised background giving lots of definition and dimension. The centre of the pendant is set with a glowing red paste ruby and the top is accented with an embossed arrow head shaped bale.
The back of the pendant is just as decorative embossed in a lovely floral pattern with a star in the centre, lovely quality! The pendant suspends from a heavy duty sterling silver Belcher chain that fastens with a bolt ring. Magnificent, one of the most impressive heraldic silver crosses we have had the pleasure in offering. This ancient Christian cross variation has been used as a coat of arms by the Kingdom of Jerusalem since the middle ages.
