Exquisite solid 18ct gold fob watch style locket and matching bow brooch. Decorated in extremely fine blue guilloche enamel work the locket detaches from the brooch so it can be worn as a necklace pendant.
Bearing Birmingham hallmarks for 1962 there is no evidence that the locket is an empty watch case, the 'winder' is purely decorative and is fixed in place.
A wonderful design full of old world charm, these fob lockets have been popular since Victorian times. It measures 1-3/4" high with the brooch top attached. The locket measures 1-1/4" high and 7/8" wide.
Weighs 9.8 grams, the entire locket and brooch including the pin back is solid 18K so the weight is gold weight.
Hallmarks: Locket, 'RHB' '18-750' a triangle import stamp for Birmingham and date letter 'R' for 1962 on the back. Inside '750'. Brooch, '18-750' in two places.
It is in excellent vintage condition with no visible damage to the superb enamelling. The pin back is in perfect working order with the locket snapping tightly closed. Please note, the chain is not included with the purchase.
