This charming love-heart shaped antique locket dates to around 1900 - an Edwardian period piece and it is made of a warm old yellow gold with a slight rosy hue. The front of the locket is engraved in a pretty floral pattern with a vacant cartouche at the bottom to accommodate personal engraving . The back is plain apart from the gold marks.
The locket opens from the side to reveal 2 stations for photos along with the original gold photo frames. This locket is in very good condition, with some light wear and faint surface scratches, as to be expected in an antique locket. It shuts tightly with a solid click. Heavy for size this is a really lovely antique gold locket and the perfect small size for daily wear.
The locket can be purchased with the dainty Italian 9ct gold 16" fine curb chain as pictured if desired - or you can purchase the locket alone if you prefer. The chain is new and stamped 375 for 9ct gold on the clasp.
MATERIALS: 9ct gold, acid tested
SIZE: 1" (2.5cm) tall with the bails, 7/8" (2cm) without by 5/8" (1.5cm) wide. It is 6.25mm deep and the 9ct gold jump ring at the top is soldered closed and it's 5mm in diameter.

HALLMARKS: stamped with worn hallmark '9ct - Back & Front'. English hallmarked "9ct back and front" lockets are typical of the period, at least 90- 95% solid gold they can have inner rims that are made of a stronger goldtone metal.
