This beautiful antique Georgian mourning ring is intricately crafted in luxurious buttery 18ct yellow gold and is overloaded in pretty feminine detailing. The ring has a thick glass locket compartment in the centre containing a lock of hair which is framed by a halo rose cut black pastes arranged in a flower motif. The black glass gemstones nestle securely in pinched settings. Ornate scrolled split shoulders lead to a intricate band engraved in different patterns. This ring shows exceptionally fine detailing!
This dainty mourning ring is a fabulous and rare find especially in such well-preserved condition. In common with the majority of Georgian rings - which are over 200 years old - she will not take kindly to heavy wear so please wear her with the love and consideration due to a very old lady!

GEMSTONES: 8 rose cut black paste (glass) stones, approx. 4mm diameter
RING SIZE: UK K-1/2, US 5-1/2, due to the complexity of the shank we don't recommend sizing unless you don't mind interrupting the band design
MEASUREMENTS: Face measures 15x14mm, locket compartment 7x6mm, shoulders 10mm stepped to a 2.5mm band at the back

CONDITION: In overall very, very good antique condition under close magnification it shows a few tiny scratches to the glass which are a lot more obvious in the photos than they are to the eye. Likewise the pastes have minor surface scuffs. The locket compartment can be gently eased out using a dull pin and the hair replaced with your own or even ashes if you wish
