Circa 1800 this extremely pretty and feminine Georgian mourning locket pendant is crafted in 9ct rosy warm old gold.
A true period piece it is exquisitely decorated in carved and engraved ornate floral detailing. It has a glass compartment in one side containing 2 locks of blonde & light brown hair. The other side other side is engraved with "IMO" - In Memory Of, inside a charming heart motif.
To vary the look the locket and can be worn with either side facing, both sides are equally as pretty. If you wish to remove the hair and replace it, perhaps with another lock of hair or a small photo, we expect the compartment could be carefully removed using a small pin to gently pry it open.
The locket can be purchased with the dainty Italian 9ct gold 16" fine curb chain as pictured if desired - or you can purchase the locket alone if you prefer. The chain is new and stamped 375 for 9ct gold on the clasp.
A beautiful addition to any Georgian jewellery collection, this dainty beauty has carried tender sentiment for over 200 years!

CONDITION: in very good condition with a little surface wear and scratches as to be expected in an antique locket this age, the bale at the top has worn a little thinner. The glass is free of any damage.
