This beautiful 9ct gold Victorian locket features different engraving on each side so you can wear either side facing, 2 antique lockets in one!
One side is engraved in a romantic heart & keyhole design symbolising a "locked heart" with the other side decorated in forget-me-not flowers and scrolls along with a vacant epaulette shaped cartouche so you could choose to have it engraved with a monogram for a personal touch.
The locket opens at the side to reveal two stations, the front one for a photo which holds a gold picture frame, glass cover and fabric liner. The station in the back is deeper and empty. This side would have typically been used to hold hairwork or other precious keepsake but you can use it for another photo.
The locket is finished in an oversized gold bale that will accommodate a wide variety of chain styles or even a ribbon.
The locket is in very good antique condition with minor surface wear particularly at the top edge on the side that has the heart & keyhole decoration, please see the photos. The floral engraving is still beautifully crisp and the hinge is unworn with the locket closing tightly with a satisfying snap. The inside shows a little solder residue and workshop marks.
A beautiful Victorian gold locket through and through and a classic love token, she will look beautiful paired with a substantial gold chain to match her character.
