An impressive chunky wide antique Victorian Whitby jet bracelet! Eight rounded rectangular plaques of Whitby jet are hand-carved into an intricate 'pineapple' design and strung onto cotton covered strong elastic. Worn fitted to the wrist this bracelet would have been used for mourning during the 1800's, today she is a gorgeous antique statement piece that is bound to invite compliments . A Victorian classic!
If you are unfamiliar with Whitby jet it is a deep glossy black fossilized mineral gemstone only found in and around the cliffs at Whitby, a seaside hamlet in England. Our shop is based in the Whitby area and all of our jet jewellery is sourced locally.

MATERIALS: antique Whitby jet
SIZE: at rest it measures 8-1/2"/21.5cm around and expands to fit over the hand. The panels are approx. 1"/2.5cm tall, 7/8"/2.2cm across
DATE: Victorian, circa 1870
WEIGHT: 26.6 grams
CONDITION: overall in very, very good condition with minimal wear to the outside carving. The inside shows a little more wear along with natural striations and some brown inclusions that you might expect to see in real jet that has formed in nature
