This beautiful antique sterling silver locket hails from the Victorian era, it generously sized with an elegant slim flat profile. Exquisitely detailed with a lovely cut away scalloped frame the locket is beautifully hand-engraved on the front in an ornate ivy pattern. The clinging ivy represented loving attachment and eternity to the sentimental Victorians, their jewellery is so romantic and full of symbolism!
The reverse of the locket features a border of machine turned guilloche engraving with a vacant oval cartouche in the centre should you wish to add engraving for a personal touch. The locket opens from the side to reveal 2 fairly large compartments for precious photos you will put in there along with the original silver picture rings. To finish the top benefits from a heavy duty V-shaped bale.

CONDITION: in very good antique condition with minor surface wear. There are scratches, tooling marks and tarnish inside as you would expect of any antique silver locket. There is more surface wear on the reverse where the hallmarks are worn away but nothing untoward. More importantly it shuts tightly with a solid click. Please see the photos.
