A highly unusual, possibly Scottish, arts and crafts/art nouveau antique sterling silver brooch showcasing a unique carnelian stone. The brooch is heavy duty and solidly constructed in a disc/shield shape with cut outs around the edge.
The carnelian is a semi translucent shade of pale peach with orange moss like splotches, most unusual, and it is bezel set into the center of the brooch.
A sturdy gauge pin back and C-clasp completes this striking piece. A fine example of jewelry from the British arts and crafts movement with an unusual twist on the traditional Celtic pin, plenty of age to it and highly collectible!
