A superb quality Edwardian silver belt bangle rendered in the form of a beautiful wide belt. As a jewellery motif, belts and garters represent safety and security, they are thought to bestow protection upon the wearer so not surprisingly belt motif jewellery was, and still is very popular!
The bracelet is is rendered in thick heavy gauge sterling silver that is hand-engraved and chased in an exquisite Art Nouveau pattern with curvy spiky flowers and cascading leaves that spiral all the way around.
The bracelet is adjustable with 2 eyelets and a silver peg that slots into place so you can alter the size up or down for a perfect fit. A detachable silver band that slides around the bracelet is a lovely decorative touch that keeps the end of the bangle close fitting and flat.
This is one of the most unusual and striking antique silver belt bangles we have seen in a long time. We adore its sinuous Art Nouveau character, robust and strong you can wear this bangle with total confidence!
