Absolutely beautiful Victorian sterling silver large sized locket adorned on the front with pansies in a 9ct rose gold overlay, a charming two tone characteristic often seen in lockets hailing from the Aesthetic era
Superbly detailed and dimensional the locket is intricately embossed on both sides in an ivy and turret design. A scalloped and pie crust edge adds to the pretty pattern and the locket is further enhanced with an arched bale and large oval jump ring. Full of romantic symbolism the clinging ivy represents affectionate attachment, fidelity and eternity, while the pansy says "think of me" These beautiful lockets were often given as loving gifts to sweethearts.
The locket is nice and deep with plenty of space inside for photos or larger mementos. There are no picture rings inside and it is possible there never was, because of the deep embossing around the inner edges.
