This delightful vintage London hallmarked sterling silver stamp case pendant is envelope shaped and beautifully engraved on the back and front in an ornate floral and foliate design.
Decorative and functional these charming etui type of pendants have been popular since Victorian and Edwardian times and were used to safely store and keep stamps close to hand - back in the days when people wrote proper letters! These days they make for a gorgeous alternative to a locket, perfect for little keepsakes, nostalgic mementoes or a even a miniature love letter!
The pendant suspends from a 16-1/2" (42cm) sterling silver snake chain and it benefits from a heavy duty wide bore silver bale so you can happily wear it with any of your favourite necklace chains.
This stamp holder pendant is in beautiful vintage condition with a little aged tarnish inside, the engraving is still lovely and crisp and it even has a little tab inside allowing easy access to your precious contents inside. The heavy duty hinge is unworn and it closes securely with a satisfying snap.
